New Delhi: Just last week, Garena announced the relaunch of its popular battle royale game, Free Fire, in India. However, the company said in a press release that the game will relaunch as Free Fire India on September 5 with special features for Indian players. However, according to recent reports, the launch is now said to be delayed by a few weeks as Garena continues to work towards bringing the best experience for players.
Garena Free Fire will be delayed in India launch
According to a report in Moneycontrol, Garena says that the launch of the game is being postponed so that they can "provide the best possible experience for all their Free Fire India fans" right from the start.
A statement from the company came out, saying that "in addition to improving the gameplay, we are taking some time to fully complete our localization of the Free Fire India experience."

Last week, Garena announced that the upcoming game would 'incorporate unique content and features to encourage a safe, healthy and fun gameplay experience.' Garena told a presser that, "As a MEITY-listed service provider, Yotta will ensure best-in-class management of Indian users' personal data on local servers and network connectivity services to support Garena's product offering in India, including exports." Will do."
The Singapore-based gaming giant also announced that MS Dhoni has joined as the brand ambassador of the game and will also be available as a playable character named 'Thala'.
Why was Garena Free Fire banned in India?
In February last year, the Indian government banned hundreds of Chinese apps in India over fears of privacy and security threats to Indian users. Even though Garena Free Fire is made by a Singapore-based company, it too was classified as a "security threat" and was a part of the list of banned apps in the country.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT said the ban is significant as these apps "pose a threat to the security of the country" and can reportedly "obtain various critical permissions" as well as "collect sensitive user data."
Another popular battle royale game BGMI was also among the games that were banned. In May this year, the ban on the game was lifted and it became available for download on the App Store and Google Store, much to the delight of Indian players.
